Bring the domain, keep the time.

Every transfer adds a year to your current registration. We copy the DNS zone before the move starts, so your site and mail keep working throughout.

  1. Unlock at your current registrar

    Turn off the transfer lock and confirm you can read the admin address shown in WHOIS.

  2. Get the EPP code

    Most registrars show it immediately. Codes are typically valid for 14 days.

  3. Submit the transfer here

    We copy your DNS records first, so mail and the website stay up during the move.

  4. Approve the confirmation email

    The registry completes the move in five to seven days and adds a year to the term.

These rules come from the registry, not from us — knowing them up front saves a week.

Under 60 days old

A domain registered or transferred in the last 60 days cannot move again.

Still locked

Transfer lock must be off at the losing registrar before the request is accepted.

Unreachable admin email

Approval goes to the WHOIS admin address. Update it before you begin if it is stale.

BTCL does not use EPP transfers. Open a ticket and we will submit the registry paperwork with you.

About transfers.

Will my website go down during the transfer?

No. We copy your existing DNS records into our zone before the transfer is submitted, so whichever nameservers answer, the same records are served. Nothing changes for visitors.

Do I lose the time left on my registration?

No. A transfer adds twelve months to your existing expiry date. If you had eight months left, you will have twenty after the transfer completes.

How long does it take?

Five to seven days for most gTLDs, which is the registry-mandated window. Approving the confirmation email promptly is the only part that depends on you.

Can I transfer hosting at the same time?

Yes, and on any annual plan we do the migration for you. Add the hosting plan to the same cart and mention your current host in the order note.
